The horse in the attic

                                       Before                                                                               After

When this horse was brought to me it had been sitting in an attic for many years.

The ears had broken off. The joints were loose, it was missing part of a back leg,

the tack needed repair and the stand needed to be re-built.

I started by adding wood to carve new ears and the missing portion of the leg.

Then I tackled the loose joints - as you can see someone had tried to tighten them with nails!

Next came repairing / remaking the tack and adding a new horsehair mane & tail.

When it was time for painting the client wanted to keep the horse as a bay with it's original white markings.

I deepened the color and added dark accents to compliment the color scheme.

The stand was in bad shape. The client and I decided it was better to make a new stand

and re-use the hardware from the original. We also decided to add another rung for a little extra height.
